The evaluation of the final ACTIBIO prototype took place in three different pilot application environments. The whole system was tested both regarding human factors assessment aspects (usability and user acceptance) as well as system performance aspects in all three sites, as scheduled, within October 2010.

ACTIBIOs exhibition proposal for the EU ICT 2010 in Brussels on 27-29 September 2010 was accepted and thus ACTIBIO will participate at the event, which is Europe’s most visible forum for ICT research and innovation. This biennial event has become a unique gathering point for researchers, business people, investors, and high level policy makers in the field of digital innovation.

ACTIBIO was present at the 9th Exposec Exhibition. Over 600 key stakeholders participated at the event. Local and international sponsor companies that are active in the production and distribution of high-tech security equipment and systems, as well as integrated security services in the fields of personal security, safety of buildings, aviation, airport and maritime security, security of information, telecommunications and electronic transactions, as well as public safety, national and regional security, and national defence were hosted.

The 8th ACTIBIO plenary meeting took place in Pisa, Italy on February 25th and 26th jointly with the 3rd integration meeting. Both meetings were hosted by UNIPI partner.

In this article, ACTIBIO project coordinator Dr. Dimitrios Tzovaras points out how new and emerging activity-related biometrics systems, such as the way we walk, various physiological (EEG, ECG), body pose characteristics and even gestures, could be useful in order to perform continuous user authentication in critical infrastructures and environments.
